Too much breastmilk and oversupply.

If your baby seems to cough and splutter when they start breastfeeding, or has started to do large explosive poos and is unsettled much of the time, these may be signs of an oversupply. You may feel worried and be wondering how best to manage breastfeeding in this situation. There can be much conflicting information online and even between health professionals, so checking in with a breastfeeding specialist can clarify your concerns. (continues below)

Our initial 90-minute consultation will focus first on understanding you and your baby’s medical history, feeding patterns, growth, output (wet/dirty nappies) and behaviour, including when the fussy behaviour started and if there has been a change in feeding patterns.. I will observe you breastfeeding your baby and provide guidance to optimise position and attachment, for comfort and to help your baby remove milk most efficiently. I will provide recommendations based on my assessment and explain the best breastfeeding management for your situation.

Together we will arrive at a management plan that meets your unique feeding needs. I provide a brief follow-up phone call within days of the assessment to check on you and your little one. Additional 30-60 minute appointments will be arranged depending on your needs.

With support, you will have the confidence to feed your little one. Small problems dealt with quickly can be resolved with the right care. To make a booking, please click the button below.
