Weight loss after baby.

You may find yourself incredibly hungry and short on time, navigating life with a newborn baby and breastfeeding. You may be wondering if there are certain foods or nutrients you need to eat more of. You may be wondering if you should avoid certain foods whilst breastfeeding. Or are there foods that boost milk supply? You may wonder how it is possible to lose weight when feeling hungry and if it’s safe to do so whilst breastfeeding. How much weight is it safe to lose? You may be wondering about breastfeeding supplements. You may be breastfeeding or formula (bottle) feeding and struggling with weight loss after delivery.

There is a lot of pressure on women and conflicting information. I will help you to make sense of it all. (continues below)

As a breastfeeding and nutrition specialist, I will guide you through our initial 60-minute consultation, to understand your (and baby’s) medical background, breastfeeding or bottle feeding patterns, frequency, baby’s growth (and any concerns), your lifestyle and diet (what you eat, how often, how much). I will explore nutrient deficiencies, (such as iron deficiency), including recent blood tests, and weight changes during and after pregnancy.. Once I have this information, I will provide you with an assessment of your diet, including things you are doing well and areas I can support you to improve. I understand that life as a new mum is busy and cooking intricate meals is not at the top of the priority list.

My recommendations will compliment your lifestyle, they will be practical, easy to implement. You will be provided with a detailed meal and snack guide, including type, suggested amounts and frequency of foods to eat, with guidance to address hunger and observe fullness signals. Sometimes lifestyle habits may need to be changed and this will be addressed as part of our consultation. My aim is to help you fuel yourself so you can look after your baby with the most energy possible. If needed, I will refer or liaise with other health professionals in your team (e.g. GP). Together we will agree on a follow-up plan that suits you.

With support, the right nutrition can help to manage energy levels, mood and coping, so you can adjust to the significant life change of having a newborn. To make a booking, please click the button below.
